1. Call for Papers

R Day Colombia 2025 is a community-driven event dedicated to promoting the use of R for data analysis, statistical computing, reproducible research, and open-source software development across disciplines. We invite researchers, developers, educators, and practitioners to submit original contributions that explore the capabilities of the R ecosystem.

Scope of Contributions

We welcome submissions covering theoretical advances, software development, case studies, and applied research using R in fields such as:

  • Software tools and package development in R.
  • Statistical modeling and data analysis.
  • Data visualization and exploratory analysis.
  • Data wrangling and transformation.
  • Machine learning and artificial intelligence.
  • Bioinformatics and life sciences.
  • Natural language processing (NLP).
  • Big data analytics.
  • Dynamic reporting and interactive dashboards.
  • Teaching, learning, and pedagogy with R.
  • Applications in:
    • Health sciences.
    • Social sciences and humanities.
    • Education.
    • Engineering and related fields.
    • Economics and finance.
    • Agronomy.
    • Natural and exact sciences.

Submission Guidelines

Each submission will be evaluated by three independent reviewers under a double-blind review process.

Important Note: The organizing committee has initiated the editorial process with Springer to publish selected papers in the Communications in Computer and Information Science (CCIS) series. However, inclusion in the proceedings is subject to approval by Springer’s scientific committee. Only accepted papers presented at the conference will be considered for inclusion.

Important Note: The organizing committee is in the process of negotiating with Springer to publish a volume in the Communications in Computer and Information Science (CCIS) series.

If Springer approves the proceeding volume, all accepted short papers will be included there and no local proceedings with ISBN will be produced. If the proceedings are not approved, accepted papers will be published in a local volume with ISBN, edited by the organizing committee.

To be eligible for proceedings publication:

  • At least one author must register and attend the event to present the paper.
  • Unpresented papers will not be published.

2. Call for Short Papers

As part of R Day Colombia 2025, we invite submissions of short papers that showcase ongoing work, partial results, exploratory studies, or innovative ideas that contribute to the academic or professional use of R.

This track is ideal for early-stage research, practical implementations, or conceptual discussions that are not yet ready for full paper publication but still offer significant value to the R community.

What We’re Looking For

We encourage submissions that involve (but are not limited to):

  • Work-in-progress research using R.
  • Preliminary results with academic or practical relevance.
  • Innovative teaching experiences or educational tools in R.
  • Open-source R packages or prototypes in development.
  • Experimental workflows or applied case studies.
  • Data visualization, reproducible research, and interactive reporting.

Submission Guidelines

Each short paper will be reviewed by three members of the program committee under a double-blind review process.

All accepted papers will be presented at the conference and published in a local proceedings volume with ISBN.

Note on Publication: A selected group of high-quality short papers may be invited to be included in the Communications in Computer and Information Science (CCIS) series by Springer, pending approval from Springer’s scientific board. This process is under discussion and is not guaranteed at this stage.

Important Note: The organizing committee is in the process of negotiating with Springer to publish a volume in the Communications in Computer and Information Science (CCIS) series.
